In HVAC systems across Europe and North America, valve control is moving beyond simple open-close operation. Chilled water, hot water, ventilation ducts, and air handling systems increasingly require valve position control, signal feedback, and remote automation.
If the valve only needs to open and close, an on-off electric actuator may be suitable. If the HVAC system needs continuous valve opening adjustment, a modulating electric actuator is more relevant.
The DCL modulating actuator parameters show support for 4–20mADC input and 4–20mADC output. This signal type is commonly used for valve opening control, position feedback, and system integration in HVAC valve automation.
In chilled water and hot water systems, valve opening affects flow distribution. In ventilation systems, damper position affects air delivery. For this reason, actuator selection should not only focus on whether the actuator can rotate, but also on control error, hysteresis, and dead band.
The PDF lists a basic error of no more than ±1%, hysteresis of no more than 1%, and an adjustable dead space of 0.5%–5.0% for the modulating actuator. These values can support technical descriptions related to valve positioning and feedback control, but they should not be converted into unsupported energy-saving or efficiency claims.
HVAC valves may be installed in plant rooms, rooftops, outdoor pipelines, or humid areas. The DCL weatherproof electric actuator PDF marks the standard protection class as IP67, with IP68 optional for some models, and an ambient temperature range of -25℃ to +55℃. These parameters help engineers evaluate whether the actuator is suitable for outdoor, humid, or dusty valve automation environments.
DCL series electric actuators include weatherproof, modulating, feedback, and on-off configurations for 0–90° quarter-turn valve control. The weatherproof series covers a torque range from 16Nm to 3000Nm, making it adaptable to different ball valves, butterfly valves, and ventilation valves. For HVAC systems, water treatment facilities, ventilation ducts, and outdoor pipeline equipment, DCL series related actuators can be selected according to control type, enclosure protection, output torque, and signal requirements.
